Annuals are flowers with a life cycle that lasts only a year. Annuals are definitely worth the wait, though, because they produce beautiful, vibrant, and bright flowers for several months, and they bloom much longer than perennials do. Annuals can be planted anywhere, for instance, in gardens, containers, window boxes, pots, or planters, they happily bloom about anywhere.

Perennials are flowers with a life cycle that last up to several years (typically 3 to 5 years). They normally grow from a bulb and then bloom for only a few short weeks before turning dormant for the year. Perennials also have a specific timeframe they bloom during the season. Depending on the flower, perennials will blook in the spring, summer, or fall and will then bloom again at the same time the following year. Perennials can grow anywhere, for instance, they will happily grow in garden beds, window boxes, containers, and landscapes. Some perennials bloom in the spring, some in the summer, and others wait until fall. They bloom at specific times of the year and no other. Year after year, perennials provide reliable blooms that often come back bigger and better than the previous season.
